TRUCK RACING: RENAULT TRUCKS GETS OFF TO A GOOD START IN ISTANBUL

The 2012 season Truck Racing calendar

The Istanbul Park track, a new venue, hosted the first stage of the European FIA 2012 Truck Racing Championship this weekend - and was the scene of some particularly keen competition. The Renault Trucks-MKR Technology team, which has resolutely set its sights on winning the championship, scored some valuable points by getting four podium places out of four races. Renault Trucks, as usual, marked the opening of the season by a powerful commercial presence. Over 850 of the manufacturer’s customers and partners had been invited to watch the races and take advantage of the various events and attractions on offer around the track.

After making preparations over the winter, competition time has finally come round again for the Truck Racing drivers. And it has got off to a thrilling start, since the trucks were bunched up closer than ever: during the Sunday superpôle, the five leaders were all within a single second of each other! By getting at least one driver on the podium for each race (4 races and 4 podium places), MKR Technology-Renault Trucks garnered valuable points for the Driver Championship and came out top of the Team Championships.

Starting the new season off in the style it deserves, Renault Trucks was the main partner of this very first race in Istanbul. In a reception area of over 200 m², Renault Trucks had set up a VIP stand specially reserved for its customers and guests, giving them a unique, unobstructed view of the events. All around the track, Renault Trucks had also set up a variety of different attractions focused on its vehicles and its Optifuel Solutions. These included mini-circuits, a boutique for products which attracted many enthusiasts and, of course, the opportunity to experience the thrills of truck racing on the simulators. The Truck Racing by Renault Trucks videogame is still available on the iPhone, Android, iPad and Google Play - and can be downloaded free of charge during race weekends.

After getting off to this very fine start, Renault Trucks looks forward to seeing all Truck Racing fans on 19 and 20 May at Misano in Italy for the second leg of the Championship.
